Billy Morgan (29. apr – 5. mai)

Amsterdam-based artist Billy Morgan will work on ‘Lures’, which will premiere at the ICA London in June. Staging textual situations in combination with gesture, dance and music, the work develops Morgan’s interest in the fictionality of the body and its potential for channelling lives at the periphery.

Overcast by the city, Lures is a serial drama that interweaves devices of plot and deception to spoil benign representations generally accorded to the feminine. At Bergen Kunsthall’s Live Studio, Billy will work solo. They will focus on transforming their research around the feminised subject as a site of contradiction and subterfuge into live material, producing a series of draft text scenes in combination with movement and sound produced by Jasia Rabiej.

These scenes will serve as scores for the later stages of the work, which will be developed in collaboration with performers Mami Kang and Alban Ovanessian. Divided subjects, their actions will conspire to rupture logics inscribed by language and behaviour. It is not they who are assertive, but language itself.
