Aniela Piasecka is a dance artist and choreographer based in Glasgow, working in predominantly collaborative capacities across dance, performance, and visual art contexts. Remedies is a new phase of R&D drawing on several years of research on somatic techniques towards a new solo performance work that gives space for chronic pain to exist within its structure. The project aims to create a nuanced counterpoint to the pervasive status quo maintained between ‘the healthy’ and ‘the ill’, by disrupting the certainties of live performance, focusing on starkness as a modality to find the self-evidence and provocation inherent in presenting a body in states of un/rest.
