Unge Kunstkjennere
Unge Kunstkjennere (Young Art Connoisseurs) was started in the spring of 2017 as a meeting place for young art enthusiasts who work to make contemporary art more accessible to other young people.
We adopt a project-based approach to Young Art Connoisseurs, where each new project will give young people the opportunity to be actively involved in the institution’s creative programme, to work with artists and staff, to gain professional experience, to meet friends, and to develop creative abilities. With the project, we want to help young people find their voice in contemporary art.

Are you between 15 and 25 years old? Join a unique creative project at Bergen Kunsthall.
This year, Young Art Connoisseurs will take part in “A Letter to Europe,” a poetry workshop led by poet and playwright Athena Farrokhzad on Saturday 29th August.
During this 2-hour workshop, you’ll explore poetry, language, and your own perspective. In response to the workshop, you’ll create a piece of writing in your own words and in your own language—and you’ll be paid for your contribution.

In this article, Unge Kunstkjennere (UKK) share their reflections on Bergen Assembly 2025. Four young voices explore the exhibition through the lens of identity, feminism, and politics. They describe powerful encounters with artworks connected to their own life experiences and cultural backgrounds. The text offers a unique insight into how young people experience contemporary art, and how art can open up space for both internal reflection and public debate.

Våren 2023 ble Rahiima Mahamuud engasjert som produsent for et skriveprosjekt for Unge Kunstkjennere. Skriveprosjektet var knyttet til Festspillutstillingen 2023 «Gyre» av Camille Norment. Vi ønsket ungdom med ulike kulturelle bakgrunner som skribenter for UKK, med oppfordring om at de skrev med sine ord og sitt språk.
Tanken bak skriveprosjekter er basert på en nysgjerrighet rundt ungdoms tilnærming til kunst, eksempelvis hva som vektlegges når de går inn i en kunstutstilling for å skrive om den, og hvilke ord de bruker for å beskrive opplevelsen. Vi ønsket å nå all ungdom, og gjerne dem som ikke nødvendigvis er interessert i kunst eller har et forhold til kunst fra før. Prosjektet skal åpne opp for nye innfallsvinkler til hvordan man kan snakke om kunst.

Project Description
Young Art Connoisseurs are looking for those between 15 and 20 interested in writing a text about an exhibition and an event at Bergen Kunsthall in April. No prior experience in writing text or knowledge of art is required. You can choose which language to use if you can write in several languages. The assignment is paid.
