Playdate is a concert series for improvised music in Bergen, Norway. Held at Landmark, Bergen Kunsthall.
Joel Ring solo:
His music comprises experimental beats in dialogue with cello, electronics, and field recordings. It has clear influences from musique concrète and is inspired by artists such as Oscar McClure, Dakim, Sam Gendel, Arthur Russell, Okkyung Lee, and The Books. The album Different Pieces was released in June 2025 on Pluritone, a Norwegian record label he co-founded with Heida Karine Johannesdottir Mobeck. He recently completed a solo tour in Japan in the autumn of 2025. Alongside his solo work, he is active in projects such as Karoline Wallace: Eon, Henriette Eilertsen Trio, Telehiv, Karl Bjorå: Power Chords, and the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra. In 2025, he was nominated for a Spellemann Award (Norwegian Grammy) with his ensemble Joel and the Neverending Sextet.
Sune Dommersnes and Jeanette Schreurs duo:
From advent calendar to a concert at Playdate! In December, the duo improvised freely, driven by curiosity about what would develop musically as they played together every single day. Now, the duo invites you to a high-energy set at Landmark, where jangly strings meet extreme woodwinds. Expect a spectrum of sounds, landscapes, and noise – come and enjoy!
