Plattform is excited to welcome you to a conversation between two hugely acclaimed writers – poet, performer and novelist Eileen Myles, and visionary poet and writer CAConrad.
This Plattform event is organised for the exhibition ‘I Couldn’t Sleep in My Dream’ by Beatrice Gibson in Bergen Kunsthall (25.1. – 31.3.2019). Beatrice worked with CAConrad and Eileen Myles on her new film I Hope I’m Loud When I’m Dead.
Platform is Bergen Kunsthall’s lecture series connected to our exhibition programme and wider contemporary debates.
Eileen Myles is a poet, novelist, and art journalist. Their twenty-one books include evolution(poems), Afterglow (a dog memoir), I Must Be Living Twice/new and selected poems as well as re-issues of Chelsea Girls and Cool for You. They are a recipient of a Guggenheim fellowship, grants from the Foundation for Contemporary Art, Warhol/ Creative Capital and they received the Clark Prize for excellence in art writing. Eileen Myles is teaching at NYU this spring and at Naropa University next summer. They live in New York and Marfa, TX.
CAConrad is the author of 9 books of poetry and essays. While Standing in Line for Death (Wave Books), received the 2018 Lambda Award. A recipient of a Pew Fellowship in the Arts, they also received The Believer Magazine Book Award and The Gil Ott Book Award. Their work has been translated into Spanish, Greek, Polish, Norwegian, Portuguese, Danish and German. They teach regularly at Columbia University in NYC, and Sandberg Art Institute in Amsterdam, and their books, films, essays, rituals and other publications can be found online at http://CAConrad.blogspot.com.
