Ispoti and Yanos
23:00

Ispoti and Yanos is a club concept highlighting the cultural expressions from the Southern part of Africa. On Saturday 5 November they will be joined by Dj Freddy.

An all night session with amapiano, qgom, afro house and afro piano. Ayi Yebo, ahh yebo, yebo, yebo, yebo. Ispoti is a zulu slang for bucket hat. While Yanos, also a zulu word, stands for Pianos or Amapiano. Much like its homegrown predecessor kwaito music, which enables black youth to express their feelings of oppression through the apartheid regime and to create their own identity, amapiano reflects the township musical mood. Its diverse references to 90s house, jazz and church music creates a sound that is sometimes nostalgic and interspersed with cultural elements that many resonate with. Before Amapiano hit commercial radio stations, the ground up music phenomenon was brewed in the streets, heard in local taverns and shared on WhatsApp communities.

As the sound developed, amapiano became more than just music; it was an expression and validation of a way of life, with its own unique dress (Ispoti), talk and dance. The music influences the way people dance and has certainly brought a new vibe to the clubs.

The Bucket Djz
Is a group of local amapiano music DJs in Bergen, led by a South African born DJ da Gift. The group was formed in the beginning of 2018 by Adam Moshi, Gift Solhaug and Aboo G. Today, the bucket Djz consists of people who are passionate about South African music and fashion in Bergen. Our goal is to become amapiano music ambassadors in Scandinavia.
