Bergen Kunsthall’s Live Studio is a research and development space dedicated to live works and hybrid practices within the context of the visual arts. Currently, in its pilot phase, the live studio provides space, equipment and curatorial dialogue to international and local artists at varying stages of their artistic progress by invitation and on the basis of an annual open call-for-proposals. The Live Studio is an approx. 70m2 space with large windows, located on the second floor of Bergen Kunsthall overlooking Lille Lungegårdsvannet.
Bergen Kunsthall is excited to offer three 2-week residencies at the Live Studio in 2023 to Bergen-based artists. We invite project proposals at all stages – from initiating new collaborations to developing ideas further, from taking research time to final tweaking.
We aim to provide an arena for artistic practices that often fall in between the categories of artistic disciplines. We hope that the space, professional equipment and conversations with Bergen Kunsthall’s curatorial team will help the selected artists to further develop their practices.
