Neo Quartet + Ensemble Obsidian

NeoQuartet is one of the most interesting, engaging and action-oriented ensembles of contemporary music in Europe. It is a prize winner of the prestigious Pomeranian Artistic Award. The ensemble was also nominated for numerous other prizes (Sztorm Roku, Fryderyki). The quartet has recorded 12 CDs released by Polish, German, Greek, and American labels. Since 2017, NeoQuartet has expanded its instrumental spectrum with electric midi string violins, violas, and cellos, plus synthesizers and loopers. Beginning with this purchase, NeoQuartet has created a new, unique musical phenomenon worldwide.

NeoQuartet consists of Karolina Piątkowska-Nowicka (1st Violin), Paweł Kapica (2nd Violin), Michał Markiewicz (Viola), and Krzysztof Pawłowski (Cello).

Ensemble Obsidian is a Bergen-based new music ensemble focused on performing contemporary music and consists of Mari Bølgen Halvorsen (violin), Mara Haugen (violin), Ingrid Eriksen (bratsj) and Matias Monsen (cello).

Obsidian will perform “Wind we, wind swiftly” (2019) by Therese Birkelund Ulvo, “Stryketrio” by Emil Lehre, “Another Movement” (2020) by Julia Constance Wiger-Nordås, “Aphorisms 2” by Juan S. Vassallo and “Tvinning” (2024) by Mikkel Alvheim Åse.
