HVCKER
HVCKER is a masked band that has captivated us with their musical expression lying somewhere between a classical jazz trio, french house (Daft Punk, Justice) and beat magic (J Dilla, Flying Lotus). Their starting point is the compositions of Karl Hjalmar Nyberg and Joel Ring, but the music is electronically improvised in the moment, creating a unique environment. Floating samples dreamily end up in psychedelic drum patterns, and synths and acoustic instruments are woven together with a collective energy. The trio is now ready to give the audience at Vill Vill Vest a whole new concert experience.
Atari
Alternative and explosive. Dynamic and catchy. Floating and grounded: Atari is a fresh and rebellious addition to the growing Norwegian neo-soul scene. Influences from Erykah Badu, D’Angelo, Hiatus Kaiyote, Moonchild and Rohey, and a repertoire of rock, jazz and indie give you a hint of Atari’s unique sound. Their debut single from 2020 was hailed as “ambitious, seductive and funky” by Danish music mag Bands Of Tomorrow. They have firmly established themselves as a live band worth watching during the last years, with appearances around the country and playing supporting gigs for Hedda Mae. Their debut album is finally ready to see the light of day, and we can’t think of a more perfect way to celebrate it than a gig at Vill Vill Vest 2023.
Soundfocker
Soundfocker is an instrumental trio that combines improvisation with evocative rhythms and club aesthetics. The musicians push the boundaries of what a trio can do and are on an eternal search for the most impossible sounds. Their soundscape is electronic and experimental, and their music is as easy to dance to as it is to get lost in.
The three musicians feature in a wide variety of acts in the Norwegian music scene and released their first EP as a trio in February 2023. If Badbadnotgood had collaborated with Floating Points on a project tailored for Berlin, it would probably sound a bit like this. We are thus expecting an equally demolishing as hypnotizing concert from Soundfocker at Vill Vill Vest 2023
