Join a guided tour and workshop for children within the MA-exhibition 2022: Picnic exhibition.

Two Sundays during the exhibition period we have an exclusive and adventurous workshop with the artist Sonja Ovaskanien.

The workshop inspired by the work Merenkehto (The cradle of the ocean). Merenkehto is a soft textile-based sculpture/mermaid. The work is focused on playing, healing, and interacting.

At this ocean and fairytale-inspired workshop we paint paper mache sculptures together and get inspired by mermaids.

Sonja Ovaskainen
Sonja Ovaskainen (1994, Finland) works with installation, sculpture, photography, and performance. She is using art as a manifestation for healing. She believes that empathy and playing are the key elements when facing the various issues of capitalism. Lately, her main interest has been interaction: how to enable an exchange between sculptural creatures and whoever is meeting them. She is wishing the viewer to form a friendship with her creatures when realising them in exhibitions.
