Bass player and vocalist Maya Vik gets low with her sexy funk/disco sound, her steamy vocals, and thumping bass lines. Winner of the Norwegian Grammy for ‘Best Pop Group’ with her previous band Montée and voted ‘Norway’s Most Beautiful Woman’ by fashion magazine, Elle Mann, Maya has been hard at work writing, recording, performing, and keeping her sights set on the USA.
After going solo in 2011 and releasing two albums and an EP, Maya Vik is currently sitting on a trove of jams set for release. Her latest release, “Beyond The Basics” is a blend of soon to be classics, including the infectious, single, “Y.M.D. (Young Michael Douglas)” produced by nu-disco DJ/producer, Lindstrøm. Maya also worked with producer William Idap (Nico and Vinz’s, massive hit “Am I Wrong,”) to craft the inspirational anthem “Fighter”. Meanwhile, producer Pat Lukens brought Maya back to the 1980s with the sound that became a key ingredient in her funk oriented live shows.
Playing live, Maya was once the bassist in Savoy fronted by A-ha’s Paul Waaktaar-Savoy. With her band, she has opened for artists from Dâm-Funk to Lenny Kravitz and has toured Japan, Russia, Holland, Germany and also the US including a month-long residency at Pianos, NYC.
