OCA Pop-Up

OCA has the pleasure to announce the fourth OCA Pop-Up at Bergen Kunsthall, Landmark on Thursday 20 November at 19:00. The OCA Pop-Up meetings form part of OCA!s focus to reach out to art communities in cities outside the capital, such as Trondheim, Kirkenes, Tromsø, Bergen and Stavanger, in collaboration with local art institutions and guest artists. Guestspeaker, artist Ignas Krunglevicius, will speak about his experiences and activities on the international art arena.
The OCA Pop-Ups have been designed in order to connect with local art communities throughout the country, present OCA’s activities, facilitate the use of OCA as a tool for art professionals in their internationalisation process, as well as further thetransmission of information on the dynamics of the international art world. The aim of OCA Pop-Up is to strengthen the position of OCA as a discussion partner with art communities nationwide. The OCA Pop-Up series was inaugurated in May 2014 at Trondheim Kunstmuseum. The second and third meetings were held in collaboration with Pikene på Broen in Kirkenes, and Northen Norway Art Museum in Tromsø, both in October 2014.

About Ignas Kunglevicius
Ignas Krunglevicius (b.1979 in Kaunas, Lithuania, lives and works in Oslo, Norway) graduated with an MA from the Norwegian Music Academy in Oslo. An artist and a composer he participates in both the visual art and contemporary music scene, whereby the two occupations influence each other. His main interests lie in the psychology of power, and the political and existential realities generated by the global technological development. Recent exhibitions include the Nordic pavilion at the 14th International Architecture Exhibition organised by la Biennale di Venezia, Venice, Italy (2014); “Crime in Art!, Museum of Contemporary Art, Krakow, Poland (2014); “You Imagine What You Desire!, the 19th Sydney Biennial, Sydney, Australia (2014); the Autumn Exhibition, Kunstnernes Hus, Oslo (2013); Norwegian Sculpture Biennale, the Vigeland Museum, Oslo (2013); Ultima Contemporary Music Festival, Oslo (2004, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013); and The Turku Biennale, Turku, Finland (2013).

OCA is a foundation created by the Norwegian Ministries of Culture and of Foreign Affairs in autumn 2001 with the aim of developing collaboration projects in the cultural field between Norway and the international arts scene. The foundation aims to become one of the main organs in the international contemporary arts debate through initiatives such as exhibitions, seminars, publications, as well as by providing support to Norwegian artists for their activities on the international art arena. Since 2001 OCA has been responsible for Norway’s representation in the Visual Art sector of the Venice Biennale.
