As The Dead C doesn’t tour outside of New Zealand very often, we are very pleased to present them in Bergen. The trio, founded in 1986 in the university city of Dunedin in the South Island of New Zealand, consists of Bruce Russell (electric guitar), Michael Morley (vocal, guitar, laptop, etc.) and Robbie Yeats (drums). The soundscape is characterized by a free and improvised approach to rock, led by lo-fi guitar sequences and Morley's peculiar vocal, where the latter moves halfway between a mumble and something that reminds of an elevated hymn. The band received its international breakthrough with the double LP Harsh 70s Reality, released on Siltbreeze in 1992, and in 2006 the compilation album Vain Erudite and Stupid: Selected Works 1987 - 2005, covering their first 18 years, released on Ba Da Bing Records. In recent years, the band has added electronics and samples to their instrumental repertoire, but without discarding the hazy guitar chaos that has been defining for their musical expression for over 30 years.

Bardo Pond is a band just a few years younger than The Dead C. The group was formed in 1991 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and consists today of Michael Gibbons (guitar), John Gibbons (guitar), Isobel Sollenberger (flute and vocal), Clint Takeda (bass guitar) and Jason Kourkounis (drums). Throughout their nearly 30 years career, the band has been classified in a variety of ways; space rock, acid rock, post rock, shoegazing, noise and psychedelic rock. Bardo Pond was considered the actual flagship for the "Psychedelphia" space rock movement in the 90', whose sound was characterized by distortion, drones, white noise and oceanic feedback. Bardo Pond is mainly influenced by avant-garde free jazz and the No wave scene from the 70's/80’s New York and with deep roots in the aesthetics of space rock bands like Hawkind and Pink Floyd, as well as German Krautrock from the 60's (Ash Ra Temple, Guru Guru) and experimental indie-bands from the 80's and 90's (Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine and Spacemen 3). Bardo Pond is currently signed to London-based label Fire Records.
