POST CAPITALISTIC VALUES   Upstairs  Exhibition, Seminar

15th of March
18.00
free

Several theorists claim that post-capitalism is in sight. The digital revolution, the new access to information and the emerging sharing economy impact our lives, communities and values. Not least, our relationship to art. No matter if we label it post-capitalism or not, there’s no doubt that the economy and culture are going through tremendous changes. What does it do with the perception and potential of art? Can the current changes make new grounds for how we engage with and value art? Can art be a societal instigator, and make way for alternative experiences and values?

The seminar takes place the day before Post Capitalistic Auction by Jingyi Wang in collaboration with Idun Vik. Prior to the seminar, we invite you to a vernissage and viewing of the artworks that will be auctioned the following day.

The event will also include a launch of a publication which includes presentations of the artists and artworks that will be auctioned, and a series of articles on art and value by Knut Ove Arntzen, Dave Beech, Andrea Phillips, Jose Maria Duran, Jacob Hjortsberg, Erlend Hammer, Paul Mason og Jennifer Webb. The publication is edited by Jingyi Wang and Idun Vik.
