Utmark presents: SELVHENTER & MoE Landmark  Club

The Danish band Selvhenter is busy becoming one of the most exciting new experimental bands in Europe. The five members Sonja LaBianca (saxophone), Maria Bertel (trombone), Maria Diekmann (violin), Jaleh Negari (drums) and Anja Jacob¬sen (drums) belong to a milieu centred around the artist collective Eget Værelse in Copenhagen, and also play in a number of other band configurations. Their unique expression combines the energy of rock with free improvisation and noise, and draws inspiration from rock history, minimalist composition and percussion-based music from Africa and South East Asia.

In the autumn of 2014 MoE release their third album on Fysisk Format. With a point of departure in a traditional rock configuration MoE combine a rigorously mini¬¬malist idiom with experimental strategies. The band is an example of what can happen when one deliberately tries to mix the DIY culture from punk and alternative rock with contemporary music’s ability and will to explore new musical possibilities within a given format. MoE consists of Guro Skumsnes Moe (bass and vocals), Joakim Heibø Johansen (drums) and Håvard Skaset (guitar).
