Ina Hagen Plattform: Deep Listening and Conversation - Fire Nation   Upstairs  Artist Talk

Deep listening session and artist conversation with Ina Hagen.
Co-convened by Ragnhild Freng Dale, Caroline Stampone and Emilie Wright

Free entry!

This event accompanies Hagen’s audio visual work "Fire Nation" show in the exhibition "The Ocean", currently on view at Bergen Kunsthall. The work engages with the contradictions of energy production through the example of the name-change of Norwegian state-owned energy company Statoil to Equinor in 2018, and the engagement of Equinor in Brazil. In the event we will collectively listen to the sonic environments of central Bergen Harbor and Praça Mauá in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, recorded during the summer of 2021. The event will also include an open conversation between, artist Ina Hagen; writer and research assistant on "Fire Nation" Caroline Stampone, senior researcher at Western Norway Research Institute, Ragnhild Freng Dale (who also appears in "Fire Nation"); and sound artist Emile Wright, with space for questions, reflections and contributions.

Field recording from Bergen, Norway by Emilie Wright.

Field recording from Praça Mauá, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil by Irla Franco.
Plattform is Bergen Kunsthall’s series of lectures and debates with artists and prominent thinkers. This season we present talks and conversations in connection with our autumn exhibition, “The Ocean”. Artists and researchers discuss questions related to the sea and its place in the world, as infrastructures, resources and ideas.

Bergen Kunsthall is accessible from street level, welcomes assistance dogs, and has wheelchair accessible all gender toilet facilities
