Entrée is excited to present a live event at Landmark for Ludo Sounds — an ongoing podcast series that focuses on female contemporary artists working with sound.

Presenting a night of performances and interviews featuring Australian noise and installation artist Kusum Normoyle, collaborator experimental saxophonist Mette Rasmussen, and Norwegian vocalist Stine Janvin Motland. Working with the limits of the voice, both Normoyle and Motland will showcase their work and their vocal technique within an electronic context.

The live event is presented in collaboration with Landmark.

STINE JANVIN MOTLAND (NO)
Stine Janvin Motland is a Stavanger born, Berlin based vocalist who works with experimental music, sound and audiovisual performance. Through a diverse range of projects such as live radio play In Labour, a performative installation The Subjective Frequency Transducer, the field recording duo Native Instrument as well as alter ego Stine II, Motland explores and challenges the physical features of the voice, the acoustics of her external/internal surroundings and new performance strategies. Her interest in the ambiguities and unrecognisable qualities of the voice, pushes her to constantly search for new ways to expand her vocal repertoire.
Her recent work significantly involves imitation and abstract storytelling through sound collages referring to a variety of genres and traditions of electronic music, sound poetry, folk music and languages of various peoples, birds and animals. Stine’s latest solo project Fake Synthetic Music is an anti-glorification of the voice, a technical exercise and a game challenging the perception of the difference between fake and real. With a purist distance to the intimate and human aspects of the voice, she presents a minimal and insisting imitation of synthetic sequences inspired by early electronic music and deconstructed rave. In 2014 Stine released the two contrasting solo albums OK, WOW (+3db) and In Labour (Pica Disk) and she is currently working on her next solo release for Pica Disk. In 2016 she is presented by the SHAPE platform for innovative music.

KUSUM NORMOYLE (AU)
Kusum Normoyle is an artist and musician working with voice, feedback and noise for both performance and installation. She is currently a PhD candidate at UNSW Art and Design, Sydney, Australia, under the supervision of Douglas Kahn and is an active member of the Sound and Materials Research Group at UNSW Art and Design.
Intervention and feedback resound across her performance and installation practice in explorations of voice, materials, and media. Her performances are brief, extreme and a physical display of screaming, amplification and feedback.
Her work has been included in numerous exhibitions, festivals and events including Primavera: Young Australian Artists, MCA Sydney 2013, ISSUE Project Room NYC, Superdeluxe at Artspace for the 17th Biennale of Sydney, Liquid Architecture AU, the NOWnow AU, N.K Berlin, UrBANGUILD JPN, Lines of Flight Festival NZ , and Dogodek: The Event, 29th Biennial of Graphic Art, Slovenia.

METTE RASMUSSEN (NO)
Mette Rasmussen is a Danish saxophone player based in Trondheim, Norway. She works in the field of improvised music, drawing from a wide range of influences, spanning free jazz to textural soundwork. Rasmussen works on exploring the natural capabilities of her instrument--experimenting with the rawness of the saxophone with and without preparations.
The last several years she has been highly active with concerts in Europe as well as in the United States, and Russia. She is seen in bands and collaborations with among others Alan Silva, Chris Corsano, Axel Dörner, John Edwards, Craig Taborn, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, Fire! Orchestra.
