Nina Könnemann: The Lights Landmark  Klubb

Live video miksing med Nina Könnemann
Starts at 8pm

Live video mixing featuring the artist´s collection of VHS tapes from the Blackpool Illuminations Light Festival and the artist´s own footage of other spectacles and displays of light.

Blackpool Illuminations is an annual Lights Festival, held each autumn in the seaside resort of Blackpool, a popular holiday destination in the north of England. The festival was founded in 1879 to celebrate the installation of the first electric lights on the towns promenade.
The artist started collecting souvenir VHS tapes of this event for the filmic quality of the images that sometimes resemble early abstract animation. Playing them back live, mixing them with her own footage, she accentuates the repetitious nature of festive rituals and the pleasure people derive from experiences they have had many times before.

Nina Könnemann is an artist based in Berlin and Los Angeles. Her video works often observe public spaces and the everyday activities they harbour or ban.
Nina Könnemann´s recent solo exhibitions and screenings include: Ludlow 38, New York (2013), Fondazione Pastificio Cerere, Rome (2012), House of Gaga, Mexico City (2012), MoMA, New York (2010). Group exhibitions include: Vertical Club, Bortolami Gallery, New York (2013), That's why I never became a dancer, Haus der Kunst, Munich (2012), and Strange Interlude, Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2012).
